There is no record count, but you can define a field whose value=1 and then use that field in your footing. If you're doing SUM then you probably want this in a compute instead of a define. DEFINE will give you the record count, while COMPUTE will give you the line count.

You can also use a multi-verb request to obtain the record count. For hierachical databases like FOCUS, the COUNT verb should count the records at the level of the lowest BY column for summary line counts and at the level of the lowest segment for record counts.

First crack at the suggestions did not work but I have not had time to tinker with it. I will close this thread until I am able to play with this some more.
