All,

It seems there must be a way to create a record count in the report footing like a page count. I cannot find this option. Could someone help?

Thanks,
Craig

There is no record count, but you can define a field whose value=1 and then use that field in your footing. If you're doing SUM then you probably want this in a compute instead of a define. DEFINE will give you the record count, while COMPUTE will give you the line count.

You can also use a multi-verb request to obtain the record count. For hierachical databases like FOCUS, the COUNT verb should count the records at the level of the lowest BY column for summary line counts and at the level of the lowest segment for record counts.

TABLE FILE CAR
 COUNT MODEL NOPRINT
 SUM SALES
 BY COUNTRY
 BY CAR
 BY MODEL
 FOOTING
  "Record Count = <COUNT "
END

First crack at the suggestions did not work but I have not had time to tinker with it. I will close this thread until I am able to play with this some more.

Thanks for the suggestions!
