I am on a Unix box. I have a detail to summary drilldown. The first time thru I do an APP HOLD temp FILEDEF HOLD_SOLD DISK /home/iadmin/ibi/apps/temp/hold_sold.fmt FILEDEF HOLDMAST DISK /home/iadmin/ibi/apps/temp/hold_sold.mas When I call the Summary Report I want to write to a file so when it calls the Detail again the HOLD file is already built. Problem is how do I do a ? Filedef each time to see if it exsist, what's the Return varialbe I can examine so I know whether to Jump over the Filedef or -READ it when the HOLD file exsist already. The Summary will write an amper so I know. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,

Search this forum for FOCAPPQ. That'll allow you to query you files using a regular TABLE FILE request; after that, a simple view at &LINES will tell you if the file is there or not.
Look into "Foccache: Persistent Directory for Caching Files" in the Summary of New Features Version 7 Release 6.5 document.

This becomes the first directory in the application path. As long as the browser session remains active, the stored files remain in the foccache directory and can be referenced in requests using standard two part names. For example, the first request below creates a HOLD file in foccache, which is referenced by the second request:
