When a report is run first EDASPROF.PRF is run and then ibi\profiles\userid.prf is run on behalf of the authenticated user.

(I know the client can get in on the act with scripting language but I am not concerned with that right now)

The problem I have is that I am using windows authenication and the userid may contain a dot.

madonna.prf is fine

but

stevie.wonder.prf does not work

a simple way of testing this is to put
-SET &&WASRUN = 'YES' ;

In the profile and then run
? &&

Does anyone know of a way to make the ones with the dot run?

Best regards

John

John, Jim Thorstad in ny office is the guru of IWA, and you might actually open a tech support case and ask that they contact him on your behalf with your very intersting question.
and do tell us what you learn, will you?

Hi Susannah

Thanks for the offer of help from Jim but I'm going to be a bit mercenary and say that I have a work around so I wont persue the case further.

One thing I did learn is that setting global variables is not sufficient proof that a profile has run because of session persistent global variables achieved by cookies I am told!
(Originally I thought the agent retained the information).

Prob a better test would be changing the value of a SET variable and then doing ? SET variable...

Regards

John

SET WIDTH=129

? SET WIDTH

Is a good test. Tried changing

stevie.wonder.prf to steviewonder.prf and seeing if that worked but, alas, no.
