Hi all,

Does anyone have experience changing the server name that your WF/DM/MRE setup is hosted on?

I've found that BID now doesn't refer to the components correctly, so the usual "Error attaching to Reporting Server: EDASERVE" etc message comes up.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Keith

Used Grep for Windows (WinGrep.com) to find all instances of the old server name in the IBI directory. Changed those that weren't in a log/trace to the new server name. Restarted server (probably restarting WF would have been enough). All is well.

If you do not want to install a Unix utility on windows then use Ransack Agent (basic form, free ware)

Kicks the **** out of Microsoft search tools.

findstr is a built-in, and it is not terrible. understands regex (sort of) and gives context in output. Plus, you can always count on it being available, no matter the system/vendor.
