Hi All,

Am trying to report data from SQL Server. This particular column has format as memo, so the MFD displays the format of the field as TX50. I need to display this field and hold it for further proceeding.
I uses a compute new_field/a100= old_field; this diaplys perfectly ok, but when i try to hold it it throws an error "(FOC709) INVALID POSITION OF THE TEXT FIELD DURING SAVE OR HOLD
"

Kindly suggest any solution for this.

The text field must be the last field in the hold file and you can have only one text field.

I prefer generating the metadata with the option "SET CONVERSION LONGCHAR " set to "ALPHA".

Francis, I agree with you, getting the Memo field as Alpha is the easiest solution, but also depends on the content of the memo field, how big are the contents.

I wish IB would create a comparible field format to Maitains A0 field.

You could always change the usage on the master to A50.
