Hello world,

We are preparing to roll out v7.7.02 and I have a couple of questions regarding the styling of dashboards (WORP).
First of all, what is the origin of the term WORP? Is it some sort of acronym or just some term that was used during the development phase that stuck? What?

Second, we are taking advantage of a lot of new functionality in 7.7.02 when we roll this out and I'd really like to spruce-up the look of the dashboard itself. In 7.7.02 the bid-login screen has a new style and the Dashboard View Builder also uses this same styling. Specifically, in the Content editing page the tabs for the dashboard pages have a nice 3D look to them and the other controls just look more 'current'.

Sadly, none of the dashboard templates that come with v7.7.02 have any newer styling to them. I've created a customized template from 7.6.x but all I really did there was modify colors and the logo image in the banner.htm file.

Have any of you folks created any whiz-bang looking dashboard templates? If so, are you willing to share at least a screen shot of what you've done?

Thanks!

Dan

WORP: WebFOCUS Open Reporting Portal.

Dashboard templates - as far as I know, there isn't much to them - just the banner and colours. What whiz-bang stuff are you looking for? Each block in a dashboard view contains what you choose to put in it - no template is used.

Hi Francis,

Now I know what WORP stands for! Thanks for that. I wonder if it will ever come up in a trivia game Wink

I'm OK with the content in the blocks. It's the dashboard 'frameset' that I'd like to style. I'd like to see something more bindows-like. Take the Rich Internet Application themes available in the HTML Composer and apply those to the dashboard. Maybe change the layout all together so the tabs are arranged down the side rather than across the top. Stuff like that.

I suppose we could just launch a single-tabbed dashboard with just one content block and put all our navigation in there. Sort of a dashboard within the dashboard.

Not enough resources to take on the task of building stuff with the WebFOCUS API. Not yet anyway...

Regards,

Dan

Dan, I too am very disappointed with the lack of progression with B.I. Dashboard - same tired-looking UI since v 5. We now can choose round or square tabs though!

Hello Focal Pointers,

we've created our own sales cockpit via WebFOCUS self service (standard reports, dynamic graphical organization chart for navigation, user search, access control based on external data sources, our own design).

I will conduct a presentation at IBI Summit this year. I'm happy to share my knowledge about our project.

Tobias
