I am using a page-break every time when the line count crosses 40 . I have a Subfoot printed based on one of my field which will be printed evry time the value of the filed changes.
I have a problem when the page breaks even before I arrive at the last record of that particular field

You've got your BY fields in the SUBFOOT and PAGE-BREAK crossed up somehow, or you're not calculating the 40 lines correctly, but it's impossible to tell what you're problem is without some example.

Maybe NOSPLIT can help you. Look up the definition of this ON SORTFIELD option to see if it may be the solution to your problem.
