Sandy-

I'm on 8.1 like you.

In my sneak peaks into the 8.2 HTML5 manual, I saw no tricks and two treats:
1. 'BUCKET' stylesheet commands, which look like a new/easy way to connect a GRAPH FILE verb object to a particular component of the chart (yaxis, tooltip,...).
2. New 'slider' control, which would allow the user to animate time progression.

I know there are posts talking about a new interface to D3, and I'll be happy with improvements/enhancements to the HTML5 stuff.

8.2 also has something called Narrative charts where the content of the chart is actually described in the heading.

If you turn on Auto Drill the Chart will allow you to navigate up and down a dimension hierarchy.
