Dear all,

I am struggling slightly in 533 with formatting my report. Quite simple things really but I cannot find out how to do it.

The first is that I want the column headings to align from top to bottom so the titles head towards the top of the page instead of from right to left. This is like the alingment function in Excel. I have some long column headings and I am struggling to get the report onto one page.

I am also having lots of problems keeping the styling depending on what output option I chose. For example in HTML it looks fine but when I chose Excel or PDF the column widths etc are all over the place.

Are there any solutions to these problems in 533 or are they possible in later versions?

Also is there anywhere you could point me for formatting issues. I have no problems getting the data I want for the report but it is a struggle getting the format as I need it.

Dkirk,

Welcome to the wonderful world of WebFOCUS!! You have now encountered the problems that many before you have hit. Your advantage is that because of this (or inspite of?) some plucky souls have written articles to assist people such as you.

Look at the top of this page and you will see a link for IB - Development Center. Click it and then on the left hand side locate and click the link for Focus on Developers. This where the articles reside so it would be worth bookmarking it.

There is one called "Rotating Column Text Title" by Dennis Van der Vieren.

Mickey Grackin has written one called "WebFOCUS HTML and PDF Report Design" that will help you understand why your reports don't equate between different output formats. I believe that there is second article on it's way. Watch out for it.

Be assured that these "challenges" are not specific to version 5.3.3 but once you have them (more or less) sussed you will be armed for a lifetime of WebFOCUS reporting! Wink Big Grin

Good luck
