Hello,

What is the format syntax to show only the day portion (numeric) of a date? For instance, when I use HDS as the type this is displayed on my report:
01 00:00:00
I want it to only show:
1

Thanks

Grant

When I add the following code:

COMPUTE NEWDATE/D = MOVE_DATE; AS 'Day'

and run it I get this error:
(FOC282) RESULT OF EXPRESSION IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE FORMAT OF FIELD:
NEWDATE

MOVE_DATE is a DATE type column in Oracle. I am using Dev Studio Version 7.6.1.

Are you using passtrhu or are you using a .mas file?

If the latter then what is the usage format contained in the .mas file for this field?

Hello,

No, I don't use a .mas file. I only have an .fex file to run the report.

what is the format of the original date?

You may have to do something like this
NEWDATE/YYMD = HDATE(OLDDATE, 'YYMD');
NEWDAY/D = NEWDATE;

If you are producing a report from a file you will invariably use a .mas file whether it is created on the fly or pre-existing.

If your fex has something like this -
SQL
SELECT field
  FROM table
;
TABLE FILE SQLOUT
PRINT *
END

Then your .mas file is the file SQLOUT, however if your fex is like this -
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM RCOST
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
BY MODEL

Then it is the CAR.mas file.

Look within your code to see what .mas you are using then locate it and open it in (either) text editor or the gui tool. Look for the field name of MOVE_DATE making a note of the format(s) specified. Then let us know so that we can help you.
