[SOLVED] Cannot Transfer files to PC under ISPF called from FOCUS 7.6.13

We just updated our mainframe FOCUS release from version 7.6.5 to 7.6.13. In 7.6.5 we were able to perform the following task (TRANSFER) but in FOCUS 7.6.13 we are not. Does anyone do something similar that works in mainframe FOCUS 7.6.13 or higher?

1) Launch 7.6.13 and get to the command line
2) TSO ISPF to get you to the ISPF shell
3) Click the Transfer Tab at the top of the 3270 emulator screen
4) Indicate you want to Receive a file FROM the mainframe (i.e. download to PC file)
5) Specify the mainframe and pc file names
6) Click RECEIVE

That process above did work in 7.6.5 but does NOT work in 7.6.13. We believe it might have to do with APF authorization of the FOCUS programs / command processor name ... but not sure

Two things to try/think about:
  • Can you turn a log on, within your terminal emulator? The log might give you the exact error message you are obtaining.
  • Does the 'TSO ISPF' command, send you to the same ISPF panel/READY prompt, as it did in the prior release of FOCUS? I believe that the transfer commands, created by the emulator, are dependent upon being in the correct panel.

We found a workaround that works for us !

We are educating the developers that they do NOT have to be in ISPF to perform a file transfer

What the process is now is:

1) Go into FOCUS and generate your report
2) From the FOCUS command line, >> enter TSO - and hit enter
3) From the single caret in FOCUS, > you are now able to do file transfer

Let us know how you make out.
