I am looking to create an html front end program that will prompt 3 dates. A start date, an end_date, and a run_date. I want to be able to write the 3 parameters to a file for use on several different fexes. Once included into a report, the data displayed will be between the start_date and end_date, and the program will not run until the run_date. Any ideas on how to do this

arieger, before someone else tells you, you need to update your profile and provide what version of WebFOCUS are you using, what platforms are the Reporting Server and WebFOCUS client installed. Are you using Report Caster? There are lots of ways to do what you are asking and they depend on this information.

As for your request about running the job on run_date, what happens if 10 users fill out the form, is there going to be a file with 10 records or 10 files with one record? What happens if a user fills out the form 10 times? Do you need to know which users are tied to specific requests?

In FOCUS since 1985. Prod WF 8.0.08 (z90/Suse Linux) DB (Oracle 11g), Self Serv, Report Caster, WebServer Intel/Linux.

Here are some previous posts you can start off with:

Passing vars from html to fex

Some snippet there on -WRITE and -READ

Then you'll need reportcaster to do the schedule, and that's an entire manual onto itself.

Hope this helps.

JGelona,

It this particular case it will only be available to one user. Sorry about the profile I thought that I had it updated. WebFocus is very new to me!

arieger, your question is a large and very basic one. Start by reading the manual 'creating webfocus applications', take the courses offered by your local office, hire a consultant to teach you.
I'm not being a smart ***, that's really what you have to do.
