Hi All

Well it is always so much fun playing with the graph API. Roll Eyes

I need to use setO1LabelAutoSkip so that only every other label is displayed on the x axis. I also need to use setPlace(true); in order to control a zillion other things. The problem is that as soon as I use setPlace(true); the setO1LabelAutoSkip is ignored.

If I do not use setPlace(true); then my graph is modified in various ways.

For example look at this simplified code...

SET LOOKGRAPH=VLINE
GRAPH FILE CAR
SUM DEALER_COST AS '' ACROSS CAR
ON GRAPH SET GRAPHSTYLE *
setTitleString("MY TITLE");
setTextJustHoriz(getTitle(),1);
setFontSizeAbsolute(getTitle(),true);
setFontSize(getTitle(),10);
setO1LabelSkipBegin(0);
setO1LabelSkipCount(1);
setO1LabelAutoSkip(2);
-*setPlace(true);
ENDSTYLE
END

Try that and toggle setPlace commented and set to true and you will see what I mean.

With setPlace(true); -- > graph is fine but X Axis legend does not skip.
Without setPlace(true); -- > X Axis legend does skip but now there is a huge gap between "mytitle" and the actual graph. I cannot figure out how to remove this undesireable gap.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Jodye,

Use the setRect property for getTitle -

setRect(getTitle(),new Rectangle(-12000,10000,24000,2000));

The values are virtual co-ordinates with 0,0 in the centre of the image and (16000,16000) in the top left and (-16000,-16000) in the bottom right. The values are not pixel related but will be equivalent to the width or height of your graph divided by 32000.

The values in the brackets are (left, top, width, height).

Thanks Tony. That helped me position the title.

I was wondering whether it was possible at all to use setO1LabelAutoSkip with setPlace and I suppose the answer to that is no. You know what else I did? I increased the size of the font on the X axis label so the setPlace can squeeze fewer labels there. Not an ideal solution by any means.

Jodye,

setPlace(true); requires you to use specific methods to enable or disable operations by the automatic positioning engine.
In your particular example you need to add the following API call to your code

setPlaceSkip(getO1Label(), 0);

That will allow setPlace(true) to handle all other positioning and font control operations
but allows you to control the skipping.
