Mainframe FOCUS 7.7.03

Hi,

I need to move low-values to an Alpha-Numeric field, is this possible in Focus? I can't find any documetation telling me how to do it.

Thanks

What does "move low-values" mean?

You could try using one of several format conversion functions (e.g. PTOA, FPRINT), though I don't know how the low-values (a mainframe term I had forgotten) get transformed.

Move ' ', which will fill it with blanks; then use CTRAN or STRREP to change those to binary zero.

To keep your code independent of the encoding of Space, I suggest using CTRAN:
CTRAN(length, source_string, decimal, decvalue, output)
with
BYTVAL(' ','A1')
(yieldimg the decimal value of Blank) in arg 3, and low-values coded as simply 0 in arg 4.
