We generate very simple Excel reports using ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K.

I'd appreciate to hear from anyone who has moved to Excel 2003 from Excel 2000 if you experienced any problems with your reports, or if everything worked fine as is.

Thanks!
Sean

I encountered no problems. I think you require Excel 2003 for Compound Reports. There's one problem I've had with Compound Reports and Excel 2003 - an image placed in the Heading of each of the reports in the compound report does not display.

Sean, my pivot tables stopped working, all of them, and i had to rebuild the fexes. i no longer remember why, tho. In many cases, we've dropped back to format excel rather than format exl2k for an output format...reason: the export to csv from a webfocus-created exl2k is problematic, this export from excel is still a breeze, and the format has been 'stablized' so we're hoping it will always remain bulletproof.

Sean,

I have had no problems. We use EXL2K for compound and pivot table reports. Formatting is working like a breeze.

We did notice though that for some reason, some of them are not able to open the files in excel properly. They see the contents the same as if they opened the document in notepad. These users were still using excel 2000.

If we saved them to excel and then emailed them the saved report, the report was useless to them. Further, they could run the report and it would come back garbage but if they forwarded the email with the report in it to one of us with 2003, it opened just fine.

We had to upgrade the computers with excel 2000 to 2003 in order to resolve this problem.

Thanks Glenda!

I wonder if the problem you had was related to MIME types. However, I guess you're OK now that you have moved to Excel 2003.
