I am using following SQL statement for RollUp:

SELECT JPM_TRAN_TYPE_C,REGN_REF_I ,SUM(TRAN_A),CAL_MO_I,CAL_YR_I
FROM CRCD_EXCP_BLK_V
WHERE CAL_MO_I=&CMTH_ID AND CAL_YR_I=&CALYEAR
GROUP BY JPM_TRAN_TYPE_C,REGN_REF_I,CAL_MO_I,CAL_YR_I
WITH ROLLUP
ORDER BY JPM_TRAN_TYPE_C,REGN_REF_I;
END

Is there any option on Report painter for RollUp?

Had to look up 'rollup' in sql. As I see it the purpose is to eliminate 'null values' in the group by parameters. I don't think you need to worry, experts out there correct me if I'm wrong. I believe this is your sql converted to TABLE FILE which is what report painter does.

TABLE FILE CRCD_EXCP_BLK_V
WHERE CAL_MO_I=&CMTH_ID AND CAL_YR_I=&CALYEAR
SUM TRAN_A
BY JPM_TRAN_TYPE_C
BY REGN_REF
BY CAL_MO_I
BY CAL_YR_1
END

Actually, rollup will build subtotal lines. The lines will pre represented in the data stream with a NULL value for the field. For example, one row will have a NULL for CAL_YR_I and that row will preresent the sum of ALL cal_yr_i values.

To answer the original question, I acn not tink of a case that table will build a ROLLUP clause against a standard SQL table (it might for MDX cubes...). So if you want to use ROLLUP, you need to do SQL passthrough and report on the result.

Why not just use SUBTOTAL in the TABLE request?
