I was using CVS SCC at one point with DevStudio 5.2.3 and now I am on 5.2.4 and it can't find any source control system. Can someone tell me the registry entries for DevStudio? I know that CVS SCC works on my computer since I am using it with Powerbuilder as well and all is well there.
THX.

The Source Control feature in Developer Studio should be enabled automatically once the product is launched when client software for a supported Version Control System (VCS) is installed on the developers PC.
A developer can turn on/off this feature by using the Windows/Options menu, select the Source Control tab from the options dialog and check or uncheck the VCS to be used.
If no VCS are listed, this means the product did not detect any supported client software.
In case where a VCS is listed and selected (checked) however the Source Control options are not enabled in the UI of the product, you may revert to the non-recommended alternative of modifying the registry as follows:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Information Builders\SourceControl\ and
for String Enable, set the value to 0.
Please note the Source Control feature is currently available from the Projects area and requires all developer Studio components to be installed on the developers PC (Dev Studio, Reporting Server and web server).

The Source Control feature will not get enabled while performing Project development against a central remote WebFOCUS Environment regardless if the VCS client software is installed on the developers PC. This is currently not supported and as of version 523, the Source Control UI options are disabled for this type of configurations.
In a future release, we plan to implement the Source Control feature across all development areas of Developer Studio:
Projects (local or against a remote environment), Data Servers area and Managed Reporting.

I'm on 7.1 of Dev Studio and I've got CVS as well as VSS installed on my PC. However, only VSS shows up in Dev Studio. What do I have to change to make CVS to appear in WF?

Hi Hakan,

Has this issue regarding displaying CVS in Dev Studio been resolved?

I ran a quick search on Information Builders' online documents and came across the following topics which may be of interest:

WebFOCUS Developer Studio support of CVS source control
http://techsupport.informationbuilders.com/sps/10522069.html

Does Webfocus have an SCC plugin for Version Control?
http://techsupport.informationbuilders.com/sps/11582109.html

The following technique may be of interest as well.

In order to use CVS with Developer Studio, you must install a local WebFOCUS Reporting Server (the one that comes with Developer Studio). You then install the CVS client software on your machine.

In Developer Studio go to WINDOW->Options, then to the Source Control Tab. CVS should be check off already. If not please check it off.
Then in Developer Studio you can connect to the CVS server to check out files to your local environment for Development and then check them back in to the CVS server when you are done working with them.

Hope this helps. Big Grin

Cheers,

Kerry
