In case anyone is still getting this error, I found that when I did not clear a previous join , the data that it was trying to reference was now to be referenced through three separate tables. You may want to check if a previous join has been cleared with 'JOIN CLEAR' before doing a new one.
The error message is a generic message that usually means the agent on the reporting server crashed.
The crash could be caused any number of reasons.
The best course of action would be to trace the reporting server and open a case with Information Builders' Customer Support Services. You may either call at 1-800-736-6130, or access the online system InfoResponse at http://techsupport.ibi.com. Here is a list of information to be ready when you call: http://techsupport.ibi.com/before_you_call.jsp.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Kerry
