Hi,
I'm trying to build a procedure to support a simple structured ad-hoc page. I want 2-3 Group By dropdowns for the end user but I want them to be optional.

I'm using static lists to load field options into the selection lists, adding a "Pick a field" option as well.

If I run the report without picking a "real" field it errors out.

any advice?
thanks !!!
Mark

I think you need validation of the selection lists, also perhaps defaulting to something, adding an ALL option (If that is logical)

Set your entire BY command in a variable.
-SET &BY1=IF CHOICE1 = 'Y' THEN 'BY CHOICE1' ELSE '';
TABLE FILE MYFILE
PRINT *
&BY1
END

I put up an example the other day that may do what you want. It lets the end user pick BY and ACROSS.
