Hi, Whenever I vpn in, make any kind of change to an HTML file, ie, relinking to a fex, copying to production, making a cosmetic change, etc, then save it, my html file goes to 0 kb. Everything is lost/gone/disappeared. I am using 7.6.8 Webfocus Developer Studio and I am in cisco version 5.0.05.0290.

IBI cannot reproduce the problem and I wonder if anyone else can or has anyone experienced this problem? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Text editors work ok.

What is it that is changed in the html file when you relink your focexec so that it sees the changes? I was quite surprised at the behavior when I all did was relink the fex and html together and the html was wiped out.

Hi Kathy,

Are you "sure" the code disappears?
Did you Right-Click within the folder and select Refresh?
The files on the server need to be REFRESHed...

Tom, I did not do a refresh. I was stuck in at the airport and was working on it. When I got back to the office and logged back in and saw the HTML file size was 0. There was no bringing it back. I had this problem earlier in the year and we did testing on it and found whenever there was an edit of any kind to the html file, vpn'g, using dev studio client side, html would be wiped out.

Hi Kathy,

I recall the HTML Painter has been problematic since 7.6.8. There are 4 hotfix's for this release here

Just as a FYI, we use MRE only to call HTML/Focexec files from an APP folder on the server. We build all of them on the Reporting Server. Ease of maintenance, modular code, etc.

Yes, as in all file updates, the file you save gets created as a temp file and when that is successful the original gets deleted, followed by the temp file being renamed (sort of).

If the save fails then the dleetion of the original does not occur and you should be left with your original.

Did your VPN connection fail before the save had completed.

So many things could have been the cause.
