PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K FORMULA
now will column-total, sort of...the formula SUM function shows up but the values aren't visible , they're cell custom formatted "";""... when the values in the excel sheet are either MISSING or InS (zero suppress), waiting for end-user input; Does anyone have a 76 up they would be kind enough to test this in , to see if its fixed? FORMULA has been busted since 51... how does this stuff get thru?

Hi Susannah,

One of our internal resources just reviewed the topic and here is his comment:

I was not able to reproduce this issue in 713, 716 or 760. When using the InS format, if zero is there, it will not be displayed. When using this with Excel Formulas and Column/Row Totals, if all values are 0, then the column/row total will be blank too. If user input is present the totals will adjust accordingly. The code below will demonstrate that.

DEFINE FILE CAR
MYSALES/I8S=0;
END

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
     MYSALES
BY 'CAR.CARREC.MODEL'
ACROSS 'CAR.ORIGIN.COUNTRY'
ON TABLE ROW-TOTAL AS 'TOTAL'
ON TABLE COLUMN-TOTAL AS 'TOTAL'
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K FORMULA
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
END

Hope this helps. Smiler

Cheers,

Kerry

that answer is not only incorrect, it completely misses the point.
The row totals are fine.
the column totals are invisible. The column totals inherit the formatting of the above cells, which is this case is the excel custom format "";"", which means the column totals are invisible, and remain invisible when the user enters numbers;
The formatting of the Row-totals is not the excel custom format "";"", it is in fact correctly formatted.
i've opened a case, and taken it directly to the PM, who easily replicated the issue , not only in 716 but also in 76, and took it to programming.

Susannah, we're in the process of testing 7.6.0.

When I tried Kerry's example, you're correct in that the row totals will reflect changes when you input values, but the column-totals will not.

That does seem to be a pretty obvious bug.

yup, i agree Rick.
thanks for testing it in 76 for us.
In previous versions, the column total function didn't even work properly at all... if your column was a PRICE x QUANTITY formula, the column-total summed price and multiplied by sum of quantity. ouch! At least that part is fixed now, just the formatting makes it a no go,
and the PM agrees.

And don't dare try FML with Excel 2000 Formulas!
