What is the result of 'Burst'ing an EXL2K compound report.
- A job produces a compound Excel report. (Outputd of successive TABLE FILEs goe into separate spreadsheets of the Excel workbook.
- And the RCaster job says to 'Burst' the procedure's output.

1) Does each addressee get a multi-sheet workbook with data for their own high-level BY value?

2) What happens if the TABLE FILEs in the procedure don't have the same high-level BY field?

3) Ignoring RCaster's 'Burst', can I send the output of one TABLE FILE into multiple sheets of a single workbook ('Burst'ing the report into many spreadsheets)? If yes, can I then combine multiples of these (multi-sheet workbooks) into a compound report? How would RCaster apply its own AddressBook bursting to this compound report?

WIN/2K running WF 7.6.4
Development via DevStudio 7.6.4, MRE, TextEditor.
Data is Oracle, MS-SQL.

It depends...IF you set up the address book with each email address to have a burst value exactly the same the BY field, then YES; If you do not, then...I think the addressee would get mulitple attachments??? Can't quite remember at the present time.

[2) What happens if the TABLE FILEs in the procedure don't have the same high-level BY field?]
Not quite sure if I understand your question. Do you have mulitple TABLE FILEs because you have mulitple reports? and none have a BY statement? Hmmm...I'd have to think about this one and cannot test it for I don't have access Report Caster right now.

Sorry, cannot help you with this one. The last version of WebFOCUS that I used didn't have the mulitple sheet option though I do recall seeing a lot of information at the 2005 summit regarding WebFOCUS 7 regarding this.

last version used: v7.1; truly miss the wonderful things I did with WebFOCUS, HTML, & JavaScript.

My advice, set up a test burst report and try it. I've not tried compound reports with bursting, but once with a compound report, each 'sheet' got sent as a separate file, of course I think that was under 5.3.4. Haven't tried it recently.
