Is there a way to do a NOSPLIT for a report other then the first report in a COMPOUND NOBREAK situation, as seen in the below code (where report 2 starts on the 1st page and continues, splits, on to the 2nd page)?
SET PAGE = OFF
SET COMPOUND = OPEN NOBREAK
-RUN
TABLE FILE CAR BY CAR BY MODEL SKIP-LINE BY MPG BY DCOST BY RCOST BY RPM BY COUNTRY
HEADING
"REPORT 1 ... PAGE<TABPAGENO"
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT PDF NOBREAK
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE, UNITS=IN, PAGESIZE='LETTER',
LEFTMARGIN=0.25, RIGHTMARGIN=0.25, TOPMARGIN=0.1, BOTTOMMARGIN=0.1,$
ENDSTYLE
END
-RUN
TABLE FILE CAR BY CAR BY MODEL SKIP-LINE BY MPG BY DCOST BY RCOST BY RPM BY COUNTRY
HEADING
"REPORT 2 ... PAGE<TABPAGENO"
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT PDF NOBREAK
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE, UNITS=IN, PAGESIZE='LETTER',
LEFTMARGIN=0.25, RIGHTMARGIN=0.25, TOPMARGIN=0.1, BOTTOMMARGIN=0.1,$
ENDSTYLE
END
-RUN
SET COMPOUND = CLOSE
TABLE FILE CAR BY CAR BY MODEL SKIP-LINE BY MPG BY DCOST BY RCOST BY RPM BY COUNTRY
HEADING
"REPORT 3 ... PAGE<TABPAGENO"
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT PDF NOBREAK
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE, UNITS=IN, PAGESIZE='LETTER',
LEFTMARGIN=0.25, RIGHTMARGIN=0.25, TOPMARGIN=0.1, BOTTOMMARGIN=0.1,$
ENDSTYLE
END
I think that the issue is that each report is separate from the others, therefore, even by doing a PAGE-BREAK NOSPLIT based on a single sort field ( DEFINE FILE CAR / MYSORT/A1 = ''; ) does not do the trick.

I know, that in this case the report is of a finite size (known number of lines). But, in the real world, we do not know how many lines there will be other then by doing some elaborate DM Line Counting. I'm looking for a WebFOCUS way to accomplish this. Is there one available? If so, please point me in the right direction.

BTW: This is using 769...

Thanks, in advance for you insight.

Doug,

Use the new compound composer (or what ever name it has at the moment) and specify OVERFLOW parameters for the PAGELAYOUT.

Not that I really wanted to go to the Composer. But, you know what they say, "There's a App for that" and that app is "Composer [Layout]". CC For Information Builders for this one. And it's all doable in the GUI ... And you can still get to the code.
