I try to use "across columns" to display the customized sort columns in pivot table and the sort order looked good when the excel was open. But after I selected "Italy" in the "Country" page-field, the sort order changed to default automatically. Here's the sample code.

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT SALES
BY CAR
ACROSS MODEL COLUMNS '2000 SPIDER VELOCE' AND '2000 4 DOOR BERLINA' AND '2000 GT VELOCE'
WHERE CAR = 'ALFA ROMEO'
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K PIVOT
PAGEFIELDS COUNTRY
CACHEFIELDS RETAIL_COST TYPE
END

Is there a way to keep the pre-setting column order unchanged when select any of the page-field or columns?

Thanks in advance.

Walter

Walter,

You are talking about Excel functionality here and not WebFOCUS. Once your report has been delivered to the target application (in this case MS Excel) then WebFOCUS has no more involvement with it.

Thanks Tony.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

If this is Excel issue, how come I don't have problem if I use Excel directly to create pivot table. Is there a workaround in Webfocus that can make the pivot table behave the same way?

Thanks again.

Walter

Walter,

I know what you mean but the fact is that once Excel has the pivot table setup then Excel is the controlling app.

It could be that the XML being passed by WebFOCUS differs someway to how the same pivot table in Excel binary format would behave. This might be able to be changed by IB providing they can ascertain the necessary code to implement within the XML being passed. The only way to find out whether this is the case would be to raise a case on InfoResponse.
