or BYTVAL of 1 is a funny little square
and that's what is the delimiter in this whacky file i have to read.
Short of tokening thru the whole rec,
does anyone know how to specify a DFIX master with a
FIELDNAME=DELIMITER,ALIAS= whacky little box thing,...

oh i figured it out
i just copied and pasted that whacky little box thing in between two apostrophies in the mfd and it works!
and that box is actually a {cr}{lf}

the square that you're seeing actually just means that whatever font you're using doesn't have an image for the ASCII character specified. it really could be any character outside of the standard letters and numbers.

cutting and pasting works, though!
