We have used the BI Dashboard Change Management utility to move this and other Group views from TEST to UAT many times. Tonight when we attempted to Export/Import a Group View that had some changes to Content we are unable to actually Import the Group View to overwrite that view in UAT with the new content. The steps taken were: make change to Group View in Test environment. Use the BI Dashboard CM utility in Test environment to Export the Group View. Download the Export zip file to my desktop. Log into the BI Dashboard CM utility on the UAT server and click on the Import tab. Click on Browse and upload the zip file from my desktop to the UAT server. Once I see the new zip file in the list I click on it and click on the Import button. This opens another window with Group Views list, which contains the Group View I wish to import; however when I click on the check box to the left of the Group View it does not allow me to select the Group View. If I click on the Import Selected button here I very quickly get a message that says "Summary" and the OK button appears. Nothing has really been imported. The worp_custom directories for this Group View is not updated with the updated files from the zip file. I have confirmed the zip file is in the WORP\management directory, but of course I would not see the list of Group Views to even try to select it for import if it could not find the zip file.

I am at a loss because I can see in the utility log files this particular Group View was successfully imported a few weeks ago without issue. Any thoughts?

I think that if there are users assigned to the group view in the environment that you are importing to, then it will not import. Try removing the assigned users from this view in the View Builder in the target environment and see if this lets you import.

Really? I have 38 users registered to this group in the UAT environment, and I have 68 users registered to this group in the production environment. Are you saying I have to manually remove all the users...perhaps I could use the export to save the users in both environments prior to removing the users. Truly, there most be a better way?

All, I did as MCKELPA99 suggested and remove all the users from the Group of this Group view...but alas I still cannot import the changes to the UAT environment. I fear my only recourse is to manually copy the contents of the ar_gbv and ar_gbvlo from DEV to UAT. Will I have to manually copy from UAT to PRD as well?

If I'm not mistaken, according to IBI, if you have users assigned to a group in the target environment, then it will not let you import that group to that environmemnt. You may want to put in a ticket with IBI on this. You would think there would be a way around this and a better way than doing it manually.

[RESOLVED] The utility will not replace an existing Group View. This means if you wish to use the utility to copy the entire view and all the users associated with the group you will first have to remove the group view. In version 7.7.X and older the group views are created under the worp\worp_custom directory. The APP folder will have a name like aa_gbv (for group view).
