Does Cybermation (scheduling product on the Unix box - from Computer Associates) work with WebFocus.

We are migrating our mainframe jobs to the Unix box and using Cybermation as our scheduling package. Our mainframe jobs consists of Cobol and Focus jobs. We do have Report Caster.

Jay,

Cybermation can work with Webfocus using command line invocation. Winn-Dixie (Jacksonville, FL) uses a combination of Cybermation jobs calling a Reportcaster job via script to run reports that require an ETL from the mainframe to the unix box (using Informatica) and then triggering the Reportcaster job that creates the report and sends it to the user via email.

We use Control-M here at Siemens and we do almost the same thing where we trigger a focexec via windows script. One of our focexecs calls a ReportCaster job to send an email. So, it's a slightly different approach from what Winn-Dixie did.

In both Winn-Dixie and Siemens, an indicator file is used to determine success/failure of the webfocus job.

Hope this helps.

Hi Anatess,

Can you tell me the steps to achieve the Reportcaster job scheduling through Control-M?

What are the advantages and disadvantages you are seeing when you use Control-M with ReportCaster?

Please let me know about it, your input is more appreciated,

Thanks
