IM trying to create a dropdown in HTML that will pass the selected values to a .fex but im having a problem when i try to do a "Select All"

Below is the code used in the html.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

<td>
<SELECT id=listbox5 style="HEIGHT: 100px" name=CATEGORY_CODE multiple size=3 addalloption="1" accept="0" operation="OR" datafield displayfield datasource requiredfield="1447578" datatype="0" datafieldtype="CHAR" sourcetype="typeMaster" labelid="ITEM5">
<OPTION value=FOC_EVERYTHING selected xt="Select All">Select All</OPTION>
<OPTION value=A displaytext="A">A</OPTION>
<OPTION value=B displaytext="B">B</OPTION>
<OPTION value=C displaytext="C">C</OPTION>
</SELECT>
</td>

I thought for sure FOC_Everything was used.

If you do not want to filter the request when a users selects Select All then use FOC_NONE not FOC_Everything

One thing i found fairly interesting about this was the fact that i had to make sure the sql query was structured correctly as once the FOC_NONE is selected it disregards the whole line so for an example.

if the query line was structured like so
and A.Category_code = '&CATEGORY_CODE' and B.BUREAU_ABBREVIATION = '&BUREAU' and F.STATUS_DESC = '&STATUS_DESC' and A.DEPUTY_ID = &DEPUTYID

and was on a single line the whole line was disregarded if the structure was as so

and A.Category_code = '&CATEGORY_CODE'
and B.BUREAU_ABBREVIATION = '&BUREAU'
and F.STATUS_DESC = '&STATUS_DESC'
and A.DEPUTY_ID = &DEPUTYID

the only line that was disregarded was the line that the FOC_NONE was selected.

Interesting.

You're right on - my one pet peeve with using FOC_NONE. Rather than parsing the statement into its components and eliminating the one with the FOC_NONE value, WF looks at the line and if it finds FOC_NONE, it disregards the whole line. S you've already picked out the solution - anytime you use FOC_NONE, you MUST make sure that either (1) it is not a compound where, or (2) that each component of a compound statement is on its OWN line. Unfortunately, when using DevStudio, if you make a compound where, it likes to combine them on a single line which then bites you.

Darin

Yes, the entire line that contains the value of FOC_NONE is thrown out. I also use this in headings, footings, etc. to elimiate the line if they select all.
