Hi All,

I want to know that how feasibile if we change Focus DB to DB2 on mainframe.....Is it really feasible ?

What do you hope to gain by the change? Unless you have a very strong reason to have a DB2 data base there is no reason to change.

The simple answer is YES.

It get slightly more complicated when you have multi segment FOCUS DB's, as each segment needs to be a separate table. you will then have to create a multisegment master pointing to the tables (advised) or a view on the tables in DB2.

Thanks Jim,

Actually the problem which we face frequently in focus DB is the space problem of focus database file.....

For Example - We have a BCCBSP1 database, which gets loaded with customer's data (A key combination of bill date , Account No. and Account Type).

* Space issue happens while loading the BCCBSP1, It gets full of allocated space and abends.
* This abend is all depend on the volume of loading data.
* Then we create a new empty version of database as 'BCCBSP2' and start loading it with new data....

And after some time we repeat the above steps and create the new version BCCBSP3.

So this is the problem which we face with Focus database where volume of data is very high..
