I have a WebFocus procedure which creates files using WRITE command.
Previously WebFocus client and server was installed on same machine. So User used to access these files using servlet which was deployed on webserver(where webfocus client resides).

But now webserver and reporting server are on different machines separated by firewall.
So is there any way to output file directly on webserver or servlet accessing file from reporting server.

Please suggest an alternative if any.

My installation of WebFocus is as follows-
-WebFocus client/webserver is installed on machine1(Unix)
-Reporting server is installed on machine2(Unix)
-There is firewall between these 2 machines which has following port open-
1820-1821,1521-1524

what you're really asking, it seems, is how to FILEDEF across servers.
You have a windows installation, so the simplest way is to map a drive from your source server to your target server.
Say, you use the letter F for the target drive
then issue your filedef in your fex
FILEDEF myfile disk F:\IBI\APPS\myappdir\myfile.txt
Seems the simplest solution, imho

Yes I was trying to do filedef across the server. I was trying to do it on the pair of server having Solaris on one server and AIX on another. There is firewall between these 2 server which was preventing me to create shared disk. The only open port was HTTP.

But now I have found the way around. I have developed servlet on the web server which will invoke the report on report server (PCHOLD the report instead of SAVE) and save the output in file.

Thank all of you for your valuable response.
