Hi All,

When importing synonyms from our oracle database, we have the possibility to automatically import the description.
Is there a possibility as well to automagically set the title to a derivative of the column name?
(i.e. 'CARD_USAGE_CODE' as fieldname, but 'Card usage code' as title)

Or do I need to create some kind of macro that will update my master files afterwards adding this information?

Regards,
Peter

Welcome Peter,
If Oracle gives you a value for the title from the description then that is what you get.

some kind of macro

I suspect that you are very new to WebFOCUS.
WebFOCUS only uses macros for output, not for data manipulation.
If you mean WebFOCUS code then yes you could do it,
but I would recommend manual changes using the synonym editor.

If it's simply a matter of removing underlines from the field names and changing the case to proper case, then it might be possible to use Dialogue Manager commands, -READ and -WRITE, to add/update titles for your synonym(s). But you would need to write the new versions to new files, then delete the old synonym files and rename the new to the old names. This could all be automated, of course. But, as JG recommends, it's probably easier to make the changes manually unless you have very large and/or very many synonyms to update.

Thank you both for the response.
As I understand I indeed first need to create the masterfile and then update it via DM-commands or WF code.

(by macro I meant macro's outside of WebFocus as the masterfiles are just text...)

I'm not sure what you meant with:
