Hi,

I have created a report in the report painter and have changed the default styling by the using the controls provided in the Report Options, Style tab.
Now i want to use the same styling in my other reports (for same look and feel) and was wondering if there is a way to save the styling on this report and re-use it in others?

I just dont want to do the same styling stuff manually over and over again for all my reports. And want to save the current styling and simply apply it over other reports.

Ive been looking into the focal point and Developer studio Help as well, but could not find any documentation which tells how to save the current styling.

Assitance is highly appreciated.

Not sure about doing this in Dev Studio, but all you need to do is create a fex that has the style code in it and then -INCLUDE it in the report.

... or save the applicable portion of STYLE code in a .sty file, and "include" it in the new report.

For safety and sanity, I would *remove* the common style code from a copy of the original report, store it as a .sty file, and add the "include" style directive, then test to verify equivalence -- before applying the .sty to additional reports.

One caveat:

The STYLE sections include directive
include=mystyle,$


does not place the content of the referenced file in focstack -- in other words, the dialog manager pre-execution scan of the report fex file never sees the .sty file's content. The "include=...,$" directive itself gets placed in focstack, and (when the time comes) TABLE resolves the reference and includes the lines of style code found in the referenced .sty file.

Hence, you cannot place amper variable references in the .sty file: to TABLE, '&' is just another character.

The only nod to dialog manager is that -* comment lines appearing in the .sty file are treated as such: TABLE will ignore them.

Not sure if those behaviors are documented -- I discovered them by trial & error.

Abuja,

All you need to do is select "Save StyleSheet" from the File menu in the Report Painter. That will create an STY file that can be reused.
