I am in the process of developing some simple launch pages for our dashboard users. I wanted to dynamically populate the drop down selection with a procedure executing sql and then doing a report output to xml to populate the list. It works just fine in IE, however in FOXFIRE it 'goes out to lunch' so to speak and the drop down list on the launch page 'disappears off the face of the earth'. As we are to ensure our launch pages work both in the IE and the FIREFOX world this can be a major stumbling block. If I say it is dynamic and use a file as the source it works to get the values, but I lose the 'pretty look'. Has anyone faced this issue, any suggestions?

What version of Firefox are your users using? I had a problem recently with a user accessing the BID on version 2+ and found that it was not yet supported. This might have changed since but I doubt it.

It is a 2.0 version of Firefox. Hopefully things will change with the next release 7.6.

"Mozilla Firefox Version 1.5 is certified. Version 2.0 is supported."

It is unclear what "certified" and "supported" mean. Does anyone know if certified better than supported?

Basically, with 7.6, can one expect the javascript code that is generated from Dev Studio and launched from a Managed Reporting environment to work in Firefox 2.0, as it does in Internet Explorer? We are currenly struggling with certain objects created in HTML Layout Manager that are tightly coupled to IE and break in Firefox. One example (from Leah, above) is by using the HTML Layout Manager Parameter section to dynamically execute an external FEX procedure for the values list. Works great in IE. Does nothing in Firefox.

We need Firefox, because that currently is the -ONLY WAY- any of our MAC OSX clients can execute anything in WebFOCUS, through the Dashboard. IBI has done a great job over the past few years embracing open standards, and we look forward to the day that browser dependence is but a distant memory

Windows Firefox users that sometimes require IE can use IE Tab, an add-on that allows one to switch between the Firefox and IE rendering of a web page within Firefox.

UNFORTUNATELY, this is not available for Mac OS users. But then, if you have an Intel Mac, just install Windows...

Thanks Francis, I've got the IE TAB extension installed. And believe it or not, I do have an Intel MacBook running Parallels to concurrently run MacOS, Windows XP and Linux. It is nice.

But it's a tough requirement to depend on virtual machine software like Parallels or VMWARE or use Crossover for Linux just to get WF Dev Studio-authored features to render in a HTML web browser -- which was designed (HTML) as an open standard from the onset. We don't have a "captive audience" in a university environment for hardware and software, so maintaining compatability with the "standards" goes a long way to using WebFOCUS for our diverse customer base.

That's why we are so interested in the continual improvements that each release offers, especially with respect to Firefox support (or certification, whichever is better : )
