Hello,

I would be very glad if someone can help. How can I create a Master File (table).

I want to fill line by line (row by row) data into an own created table.

For example:
The table should contain 10 rows and 3 columns with different datas in different rows and columns. Each data should created by a loop.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Best regards
Goki

Goki,

Try being a bit more explicit...

Ok here I ll try to explain...

In the following code I am saving line by line the datas of Table XY on 4 variables. These variables should be written into another table. How can I do that? I guess I need the -WRITE command, but I am not sure. I hope you can help me... Thanks a lot! Don't hesitate to ask if I couldn't explain well.

TABLE FILE XY
PRINT
COMPUTE CNTR/I4 = CNTR + 1;
CNTER_NAME
SIGLUM1
KORG
ON TABLE SAVE AS CARLO FORMAT ALPHA
END
-RUN

-SET &OUT_CNT = &LINES ;

-REPEAT ROWS_TOTAL FOR &PG FROM 1 TO &OUT_CNT STEP 1
-READ CARLO NOCLOSE &VAR_COUNT.A5. &VAR_CENTER.A5. &VAR_SIGLUM1.A20. &VAR_KORG.A9.

-WRITE ...here I want to write into table XYTABLE the different variables

-ROWS_TOTAL
-CLOSE CARLO

Why not just let WebFOCUS do it for you?

TABLE FILE XY
PRINT
COMPUTE CNTR/I4 = CNTR + 1;
CNTER_NAME
SIGLUM1
KORG
ON TABLE HOLD AS XYTABLE FORMAT ALPHA
END

Yes I know, but Table XY has not included all datas. Of course I can extend the table by using compute and define fields and the DB_LOOKUP Function, but this is quite complicated...So I want to create a new table by filling in the requested datas. The aim is to prepare ONE table with all datas. Then it is easy to generate a graph and/or a datatable...

When you say "other datas", where is this data coming form, another TABLE or based upon some other entry?

If it is from other tables then look at MORE or dynamic concatentation. If it is anything else then please leaborate.
