[SOLVED] Dashboard Code Migration to WebFocus 8.0.0.7

Hi

I have the reports and dashboards code (.mas,.fex,.acx, .html etc) files which were created in WebFocus 7.7
Now I have a requirement of exceuting these reports and dashboards in WebFocus 8.0.0.7
The problem is I do not have the previous version of Webfocus installed(7.7).

Is there any method of executing these files in 8.0.0.7 version without using any migration utility.

Thanks
Jyothis

I would suggest raising the question of Tech Support via InfoResponse.

I am just going to assume you have your WF 8 environment completely setup and configured with your data connections. First I would drop all the code (.mas,.fex,.acx, .html etc) in an application folder on the Reporting Server. Make sure your synonyms can talk to the database or whatever data source you are using.

Then on the Client, I would run the Resource Template and create an Enterprise Domain. This will create your content folder, portal, and security group. In the newly created content folder, I would create a new fex that calls the HTML or fex on the Reporting Server. Next, edit the new portal and add a WF Resource (the newly created fex) that launces the HTML or fex.

Now I am not guaranteeing this is going to work as I have no idea what your report code looks like or how your environment is configured. When we migrated to 8, I didn’t migrate any of my dashboards since most of my dashboards had its code base on the Reporting Server. I ended up creating new portals instead of migrating dashboards. I did use the migration utility for those applications that were stored in MRE.

Hopefully this gives you an approach. There are other ways of course.
