I can't use the command console. The icon is grayed out. Is anyone else experiencing this mystery?

There is a .bat that registers components - look on other 762 threads to find. Try this first.

Might be simpler...

Go Window -> Options, on the General Tab make sure that, "Show Projects on Explorer Tree" in the Other Settings section is checked.

The Command Console should now be available.

P,

Well spotted!

To any IB ears that are listening (Wink)

I can't understand why this change in options has been made.

In 7.1.3 DS the command console is there irrespective of whether Projects are displayed in the explorer view (I never use the projects anyway). So what has changed to make the decision to remove this function?

I do find it useful occasionally to get error message text, so moving to 7.6.2 DS will cause me to have to create a fex for this purpose and therefore a PITN!

I would be inclined to raise a case for this but I feel it would be beneficial to explain to the wider WF community.

Thanks PTP,
That did the trick, but like Tony A, I don't use projects so I didn't want them displayed, but doing so certainly allows me to use the Command Console - the easiest way to retrieve text for error codes!

Laure,

I tend to have a temp.fex in my own sandbox app folder that I use for quick tests and the like, so it looks like I shall be using it for error texts as well once I have to move to 7.6.2 which is imminent Frowner

Unfortunately this was not a planned change.
Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. We will address in upcoming Service Pack: 764 (planned for end October) and we will also try to provide a hot fix for 762.

Regards,
Dimitri

There will be a 763 release primarily for server side fixes and it will be available this month.
WebFOCUS will have limited fixes available.
The next full SP across all products will be 764.
Francis, Please let us know of other issues you have encountered and I will follow up.

Thank you.

Dimitri
