Dev Studio 532 dead slow
I have Dev Studio 532 on my laptop and it takes about five minutes for it to start up. It takes ages for a list of Masters to appear - basically everything runs very slowly.

It's a 1.7 GHz processor with 1GB of RAM, so it should be capable of running Dev Studio at a reasonable speed.

Does anyone out there know of any tweaks that can solve this problem for the few times I use Dev Studio? Smiler

Francis,

I'll swap you, for my Pentium II 366Mhz with 320 Gb Ram!! Smiler It doesn't take 5 minutes though.

It runs 5.3.2 DS quite well and compared, to some machines I've used, reasonably speedy, but obviously not as fast as on a P4 3.2 Mhz with 1Gb!!

I would mention defrag etc. but you've already done that haven't you.

T

Congrats on reaching Master level!

Could be a bad memory chip too. Try Memtest (freeware). Registry could be bloated - there used to be a freeware version of Regcleaner that was pretty good.
I'd do some basic "housecleaning", uninstall WF, run the cleaner tools, and then re-install. I use CCleaner to get rid of extra junk. Heck, maybe even wipe the drive. Might be the hard drive or some other hardware issue.

When DevStudio startup have you looked in the CMD Window. It usually doesn't come to the foreground. It might be re-trying something in the process of starting up and getting errors.
