We are learning to build dashboards. When we created a public view, the dashboard shows the look and content created in view builder.

We are going to use group views.

When we created group views, when a user has access to one or more groups, the dashboard opens to an empty page, without the look created in view builder, and the only way to see their content is to click on the Views link.

1. Is this the way dashboard is supposed to work?

How can we get the "default" page the dashboard opens to when a user logs in to:
2. display their group view if they only have access to one group,
3. display content and a look if the user has access to more than one group?

Thank you,

Krishna

Hi,

In the bid-config.xml there is a setting that controls what you see when you log in to a dashboard.

It is called goToPersonalViewOnLogin you will want to set it to false. When set to false if a person has more than 1 group view they are presented with a list to choose from. If they only have 1 group view then they go directly to that view.

I looked in the bid-config in C:\ibi\WebFOCUS77\worp\conf,and goToPersonalViewOnLogin was not in it. Can this be set with the through View Builder on release 7.7.3?

I'm in 7.6.8, so this may no longer be appropriate, ....
go to View Builder/Manage Users...
see for each user how their default View is specified? in the View Folder column?
if its wrong, click the box next to the user's name, click Reassign, and fix it.

if your public view is empty, and your user by default goes to the public view, you can either
1) change the user's default view
2) take advantage of the public view to write a nice informatative welcome page with its own set of hyperlinks to load the users views.
if you like that idea, holler, and i'll help you write those links.

Hi,

I loaded up 7.7.03 Client on a windows 2003 server and checked and that variable is still in the bid-config file. I searched on person to find it. You could probably just add it in to the bid-config if it is missing from yours.

Crystal
