I have a report that displays:

Region A
Area A
Acct Num Acct Type Balance
11111111 R 100.00
22222222 R 50.00
33333333 L 101.00

Region A
Area B
Acct Num Acct Type Balance
44444444 R 200.00
55555555 R 50.00
66666666 L 201.00

What I need is sub totals that look like:
(After Area A section)

Area A totals
Acct Type R 2 150.00
Acct Type L 1 101.00
Total for Area A 3 251.00

(After Area B section)

Area B totals
Acct Type R 2 250.00
Acct Type L 1 201.00
Total for Area B 3 451.00

Grand Totals:
Acct Type R 4 400.00
Acct Type L 2 304.00
Total 6 704.00

I've tried to use Subfoot but I cannot break out the Acct Type subtotals in the subfoot.

There are 3 BY fields:
Region
Area
Acct Num

Any ideas?

You could define some "data buckets" to aggregate values for each of the 2 Account Types (R and L).

Try something like this using your own table/fields:

DEFINE FILE MYFILE
ACCCNT/I6      = 1;
ACCCNT_R/I6    = IF ACC_TYPE EQ 'R' THEN 1 ELSE 0;
ACCBAL_R/D20.2 = IF ACC_TYPE EQ 'R' THEN ACC_BALANCE ELSE 0;
ACCCNT_L/I6    = IF ACC_TYPE EQ 'L' THEN 1 ELSE 0;
ACCBAL_L/D20.2 = IF ACC_TYPE EQ 'L' THEN ACC_BALANCE ELSE 0;
END

TABLE FILE MYFILE
PRINT
      ACC_BALANCE
BY REGION
BY AREA
BY ACCT_NUM

ON AREA SUBFOOT
"Acct. Type R: <ST.ACCCNT_R <ST.ACCBAL_R"
"Acct. Type L: <ST.ACCCNT_L <ST.ACCBAL_L"
"Total for Area <AREA: <ST.ACCCNT <ST.ACC_BALANCE"

ON TABLE SUBFOOT
"Acct. Type R: <TOT.ACCCNT_R <TOT.ACCBAL_R"
"Acct. Type L: <TOT.ACCCNT_L <TOT.ACCBAL_L"
"Grand-total: <TOT.ACCCNT <TOT.ACC_BALANCE"

END

I did not have a chance to test this as was a bit lazy to make up some code with the CAR or GGSALES table but I hope it'll illustrate the concept.
